Ibrahim Kane joined Umaru Musa Yar’adua University (UMYU) Katsina as Graduate assistant in the Department of Mathematics in December 2006. Prior to coming to UMYU, he was an assistant lecturer at Isah Kaita Collage of Education Dutsinma Katsina State. Ibrahim received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Statistics from Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto Nigeria in 2002 and 2010 respectively and Ph.D. from the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 2014. Ibrahim won the best Ph.D student’s award in 2014 from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. Ibrahim is currently an Associate Professor of Statistics at Umaru Musa Yar’adua University Katsina.
Ibrahim served as Head, Department of Mathematics and Computer Science from December 2016 to February 2020, Deputy Dean, from June 2017 to August 2019 and Acting Dean, Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences, from October 2018 to Aug 2019. Ibrahim served as visiting Professor to Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 2015.
His primary research interests are in the field of Applied Statistics not limited to Climatological Time Series Analysis. Ibrahim externally co-supervised Ph.D and M.Sc. students from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Universiti Sains Malaysia and many other M.Sc Students at his serving University. He is a member of Nigerian Statistical Association Mathematical Association of Nigeria and Climate Change research group Malaysia.
