Established in 2019 under the leadership of Sen. Hadi Sirika, the former Minister of Aviation, MBMIST began its academic operations in the 2020/2021 academic session. The Katsina state government generously donated a campus, and it was officially inaugurated by the immediate past President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, in recognition of the institute’s vision. MBMIST, whose motto is “Safety, Innovation and Excellence,” proudly positions itself as the leading technological tertiary institution for meteorological and climate Science programmes. The institute possesses all the necessary resources, including teaching and learning infrastructure, academic curriculum and operations, designed to meet the standards set by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the International Standards Organisation (ISO). The institute’s primary objective is to ignite students’ passion for weather and climate change science by imparting comprehensive knowledge in the field.
