Effiom Essien OKU

Effiom Oku is a Chief Lecturer and a Charles R. Darwin Professor, Institute of Biopaleogeography, Poland. He teaches Climate Change Science Agrometeorology and Hydrometeorology & Environmental Science and Management. He completed the 2007 College on Soil Physics at the Earth System Physics and Climate Change Unit of the Abdus Salam International Center for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Trieste, Italy with funding from the Swedish International Development Corporation Agency (SIDA) fellowship for ‘Africa’s best and brightest brain’. He received several international academic awards including the King of Thailand Vetiver for “Outstanding Research in Agricultural Application”

 His works in these fields are evident in United Nations authored and co-authored, monographs/working papers, policy briefs, edited books, book chapters, journal articles. He was a visiting Professor to Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation, (Embrapa Soils), He is a Member of the United Nations University (UNU) College of Research Associates (CRA). He consults for FAO of the UN on Climate Change and Agroecology and he is member of several professional bodies including the International Society for Agricultural Meteorology, African Forest Forum, Soil Science Societies of Nigeria, East Africa and Africa and life member of India Soil Conservation Society. He sits on the Education and training committee of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and Editorial Board of some International Journals.
