JAMES IJAMPY ADAMU

James Ijampy Adamu is a Senior Lecturer with the WMO Regional Training School, Lagos, Nigeria. He is currently a PhD Scholar of Agricultural Meteorology and Climate Change Science. He teaches Climate Change Science Agrometeorology and Hydrometeorology His works in these fields are evident in the World Meteorological Organization as the Lead expert on Agricultural Meteorology Services till 2024 authored and co-authored book chapters, journal articles. He is an international Editor to the Journal of Agricultural Meteorology India. He facilitates for FAO of the UN food and nutrition security in Nigeria and he is member of several professional bodies including the International Society for Agricultural Meteorology, Soil Science Societies of Nigeria, Nigerian Meteorological Society. He sits on the Agricultural Meteorology management committee of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).

His work experience started in 2005 as an aeronautic Meteorologist with the Nigerian Meteorological Agency at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport Lagos. He attended the World Meteorological Organization Regional Training School Oshodi, Lagos from January to August, 2006. In 2008, He was posted to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport as Meteorologist on observation and Aeromet Forecasting. In 2010, He was made a Senior Agricultural Meteorologist in the Applied Meteorological Service Department of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency.

In 2011, he was seconded to the National Center for Environmental Prediction. National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Authority (NCEP/NOAA) Washington DC on the four-month WMO VCP African Desk Program ON Numerical Weather Prediction and Climate. He was at the International Research Institute for Climate and Society (IRI) for training on the Climate Predictability Tool and specialize on Climate and Health. On my return, publish the first Climate and Malaria vigilance bulletin for NiMet. He has attended various training on Weather and Climate, Numerical Weather Prediction, Food and Nutrition Security Analysis, Climate data management, Agricultural Meteorology, Satellite Meteorology, Early Warning Systems, Crop Model, GIS and Remote Sensing .

Mr. James Adamu is the Nigerian Coordinator for RainWatch Africa.Currently he is currently a Chief Meteorologist with the Nigerian Meteorological Agency. He is a member of the West African Climate prediction group of AGRHYMET. He is a member of the Soil Science Society of Nigeria. He is an international Editor on the Journal of Agrometeorology. He is the National Focal Person on METAGRI (Meteorology for Agriculture) of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). He was a member of the Commission of Agricultural Meteorological (CAgM) World Meteorological Organization (WMO) Capacity Development 2014 to 2018. He was the team leader on Agricultural Meteorology Tools and Applications of the Commission of Agricultural Meteorological (CAgM) World Meteorological Organization (WMO) from 2018 to 2021. Currently he is the leader Expert Team on Agricultural Meteorological Services ETAAS of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) He is the Executive Assistant on Applied Meteorology to the Director General of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency
